Stretch Your Brain

Von R. Glitschka gives some advice on creative exercises. Thinking of new designs can be hard. Learning how to work on short spurts of thought can help to trigger fresh ideas and is a good habit to get into. Glitschka includes some instructions on how to start your doodles.

The Power of Posters

The Graphic Imperative is a touring collection of posters that were made to communicate some of the more serious social issues from the last 40 years or so. Take a look at the posters.

As you do, think about some of the following:
What makes these posters good (or bad)?
Do some of the posters cross the lines of propriety?
Is it alright to cross the line of propriety to get a message across?
What role/responsibility do designers have in bringing about social change?
What kind of impact does/can design have on actual social change?
What kinds of causes do you think are worthy of your artistic support?

Tell us what you think.

Free Fonts

Smashing Magazine has recently published a list of free fonts that are actually good enough to use. Take a look. Most of them are free no strings attached, and some are free but only for personal use. Enjoy.

Chocolate Monsters

Our last Artery meeting started with choclate covered design. We got into groups of two and had to change a random squirting of chocolate syrup into a monster.
